Mental wellness promotion attempts to encourage and increase protective factors and healthy behaviors that can help prevent the onset of a diagnosable mental disorder and reduce risk factors that can lead to the development of a mental illness.
Mental health promotion involves promoting the value of mental health, maintaining it and improving the individual’s coping skills, rather than improving symptoms and deficits. In other words, it is aimed at a healthy population that aims to maintain and strengthen its psyche.
Preventive strategies need to be implemented in specific periods before mental health is damaged, i.e. before the onset of the mental disorder, in order to have maximum effectiveness. A series of vigilance lectures has been designed for this purpose.
