Group singing, in the form of a healing choir, offers – over time – countless mental health benefits to participants, acting as a natural anti-depressant.

It releases endorphins, hormones that help promote positive feelings, and triggers the production of oxytocin, the so-called love and hug hormone – so lacking in the days of Covid! – and proven to reduce stress and boost immunity, increasing feelings of confidence and well-being. In such a choir, the therapeutic focus is the coordination of breath and voice.

Its members regain their vocal strength and well-being while breathing through a series of simple exercises and techniques taught in a welcoming and warm environment. Choirs have fun and learn to harmonize in a group setting regardless of personal singing ability.

The goal, on the other hand, is not mastery: people who participate in healing choirs report that they feel happier and less alone, coming into contact with people with whom they share common interests and a common will to live, that’s the goal! ©Elpida Paulino (MA) WellMind Voice Hug
